What I don’t Like about Notion

Notion is fantastic. No doubts.

I have been a regular user of the tool since December 2019 and Notion has impacted my productivity in a great way.

But there are some things that I dislike about Notion and there are some things that I wish were present in the app. Let’s take a look:

Cons of Notion

  • Can’t add website-like buttons
  • Mobile application is very slow
  • Pages with shared link load slow sometimes
  • No API support (yet to come)
  • No Optical Character Recognition (OCR) in Mobile app
  • No support for Note Annotations
  • No Voice Note support in the mobile app

I have been using Notion for almost 6 months now and, before that, I have tried using almost all the other available Note Taking Apps like Evernote, OneNote, SimpleNote, Google Keep, Typora, Google Docs, and many more. But nothing seemed to be working as I wanted.

Now, my search has been paused ever since I’ve started using the Notion app for note taking and managing my tasks and to-do lists.

Besides all the cons/disadvantages of Notion that I have mentioned here, there are tons of advantages/pros that one should consider before migrating to Notion.

Pros of Notion

  • Cool and ready-to-use templates
  • Linked database feature
  • No need for Trello, Slack, Airtable, or Google Docs
  • File upload feature
  • Pages may be indexed by search engines
  • User-friendly and cross-platform
  • A flexible and visual way to organize your data
  • Great looking and intuitive UI
  • The free version is enough for most users
My Notion Setup

Notion Replaces a lot of Tools

Notion can replace a series of tools and save you a considerable amount of cost. Some of the apps and tools that it can replace are:

  • Google Docs
  • Quip
  • Jira
  • Evernote
  • Github Wiki
  • Trello
  • Dropbox Paper
  • Confluence
  • Asana, etc.

Notion Supports Multiple Apps

The tool supports embeds for more than 50 apps inside Notion pages. Some of them are:

  • Google Sheets
  • Google Docs
  • Google Drive
  • Google Maps
  • Figma
  • Invision
  • Framer
  • Latex
  • Typeform
  • Twitter
  • Github Gist
  • Codepen

And, many more.

Now, Notion has made its personal plan completely free. Earlier, there was a 1000 block limit, but that has been removed now.

That’s it.
